Has anyone found a reasonably priced supplier of replacement 2D 16w bulbs in SMD LED? The cheapest I've found is £40! Surprised

I assume you mean a 12v motorhome light with a 2d lamp

If so I have replaced all mine (3)

You can buy a square smd pad used to convert outside/awning lights, it has 2 leads/ wires which you connect to the switch.

Remove all of the 2d electrics and use silicon to fix the smd pad

Simple

Think I got mine from camper care

Similar, but with SMDs those LEDs won't be very bright at a distance .

Apols, I should have clarified that my 2D ceiling lamp is 16w 4 pin not 2.

I don't think you'll find any reasonably priced ones that use SMD LEDs.

The reason is that they aren't made in any great quantity due to low demand. So why the low demand?

The answer is that to get a similar light output from LEDs to that given by a flourescent 2D bulb needs an awful lot of LEDs and the energy used by the LEDs approaches the level used by the flourescent bulb anyway so it's not really economically viable to change all your flourescent bulbs for LEDs, hence sales potential is low.

Conclusion - don't bother changing them, unlike halogen replacements the savings are not cost effective.
