Hi All

I have just received some G4 led's that I ordered from China, but unfortunately they dont fit my light fittings (downlighters) on our burstner. I seem to need the bulbs with the back cut off if that makes sense. Take a peep at the photo. The ones I bought were listed as approx 30mm-infact they are 32mm and subsequently dont fit. They are not miles out, maybe a few mil, but fit they dont. I need some bulbs around about the 25-27mm mark for comfort. Any ideas anyone? Would prefer a Chinese source again if poss.

Hi,

I am stating the obvious, but does clipping the wire legs slightly shorter give you any play?

I have some similar in our Van, and I had to leave the glass lens off of the fittings.

Good Luck

Did you do what I did, and buy a thing that looks similar to a halogen G4 bulb?

What you actually need is a flat round thing like the picture below, which is 25mm across.

They come with various numbers of LEDs to give differing levels of brightness. I bought the warm white, which is slightly yellower than the halogens, but not at all bad.

It seems counter-intuitive because you're no longer utilising the built-in reflector in the fitting but, believe me, these flat LED bulbs give out plenty of light

I bought mine from Bedazzled who were nowhere near as cheap as the Chinese sites, but I was glad I did as they changed them free of charge.

morph.

I took the reflector out and they fit fine, it's a bit of a fiddle though.

I assume you got lamps with the wires coming out of the side not the back.

Hi Steve,

Try these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290649916289?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT& _trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

They come from Hong kong which is slightly quicker than China and they fit my downlighters without a problem.

Seller is on holiday but there are others with the same measurements.

Hi

Haven't tried that yet but may do. I cant tell whether the pins are bottoming out or not.

Steve

Edit: Just cut the pins on two of them and they work, but a real tight squeeze. They didn't come to alot of money at all so think they will be passed on and order something else.

Edit: Just looked again at the seller, and he's the same fella that I just ordered my others from. Can you confirm Peter that the actual size is 26mm? the one's I have now were 30mm approx according to his add, but infact they came up 32mm.

Hi Pete and cheers. I just had a look at those and they seem to fit the bill at 26mm. 6mm smaller than what I have, so seem just fine. Rolling Eyes

You're welcome.

At least the chinese ones are cheap enough to experiment with and so far they work fine.

Hi Steve,

I know what you are saying with them being a tight squeeze. Though for what it's worth, if you can get them to work as you say by cutting the legs slightly. I would plumb for that rather than using a smaller version. The light given out is generally lower than standard bulbs, so personally I would fit the biggest I could get away with.

Best of luck.
