I have a Dethleffs with a blue fiamma bike rack which has only 3 rails, no bike block or straps for the wheels. I have the following questions

- will these straps work with my rails? I have no info about the rack so don't know type/model etc http://www.outdoorbits.com/fiamma-quick-safe-p-729.html

- can I add a 4th rail by changing the horizontal part of the rack which pivots to fold up? It does not appear to extend and has an end cap rather than being joined to the "arm" at the opposite side

- how do I find the load rating for the rack?

Are you able to get a PN from the cycle rack itself? Can be 100% then.

Looks like the 02093A64- (if it is then it should take 4 bikes with an additional Quick Rail and blocks etc) or a derivative.

The rails dont have the same profile as the Quick Rails (is there a channel on the underside ? As the Quick Straps slide in along the rails underside channel IIRC.

Thanks aircool. Not sure the existing rack would take a 4th bike as the arms are not drilled to take a 4th rail. Any idea where the PN would be?

If quick straps are not suitable what would be?

I managed to get the back box off the rack today and took more photos (see below)

looks like the existing rack will only take up to 50kg so when Miss Commuter is big enough to go on a full size bike we'll have to replace the rack with one which can take up to 60kg

With this in mind we need to get this rack sorted so we can carry 3 bikes each <15kg

Any clues aircool?

hi commuter ...

well there`s another issue you should keep in mind when planning for
an additional bike.
the max. punctual load to those carrier fittings at
the rear of your van. make sure that the counterplates at the
inside are large enough to avoid damage to the whole structure

Thanks Jan. I would be looking at a competent fitter to do it rather than a DIY'er (= me) for exactly that reason

I've just got an email from Sara Wolf at Hymer-Alu.de with the part numbers I need and two local stockists. The parts I need to make the rack into a usable 3 bike rack are now on order from Paul at http://www.camperuk.co.uk/ (40 mins drive from my home)

For anyone interested the rack is a Movera and the part numbers are

Bike blocks / “Abstandshalter”
Abstandshalter 1.Rad (1st wheel)/ Movera No. 9980176
Abstandshalter 2.Rad (2nd wheel)/ Movera No. 9980186
Abstandshalter 3.Rad (3rd wheel)/ Movera No. 9980196

Fixing Straps (for securing the wheels) / “Befestigungsriemen”
Befestigungsriemen schwarz (straps black)/ Movera No. 9980245 (2 pieces)

The above part numbers are for black parts if you need the blue parts the bike blocks are 9980175/185 &195

A complete 4 bike rack replacement rack is £299 for parts fitting would be extra

Thanks to all who helped with this thread
