Can anyone point a simple first time sat nav user (Co pilot on my smart phone)to a thread or a simple explanation of GPS way points / Lat Long degree entries etc. And of how you enter them in.
I'm flumoxed and I know all you out there have all the answers.
You'll get a lot of conflicting views re which one, but Tom Tom is regarded as one of the most intuitive, I've had 4 Tom Toms, and 1 Garmin, Garmin is in the drawer, it's not difficult to use, just not as easy as the Tom Toms.
I'll address the other points in the next post.
Sorry Steveboy, I didn't read your post properly and missed that you already had one.

Simply places you find along the way and what they are called if you put a "place marker" in the sat nav, there are 2 ways to do this simply stop and select new favourite or more complex but no space limits, is to create a POI "Place Of Interest" I have one called wild camping and any new places I find go in there, you can also download them from various web sites.
Lat Long degree entries etc. And of how you enter them in.
Lat & Long is where 2 lines meet on an imaginary atlas, a bit like B6 in your local AtoZ street map, only much much more accurate, I think it's about ten meters in sat navs, but you can get some GPS (Global Positioning System) developed by the USA Military, and new GPS systems are available too from different sources.
Thanks Guys / Gals
Am using Co Pilot live premium and try as i might cannot get an accurate direction to French Aires using the Lat Long figures given in the latest Vicarious book.
Am in a discussion with Co Pilot and I will let you know if it is me being the 'beginner that does not know and basically aint a clue' or whether it is a problem with the software etc.
Watch this space....!
Thanks for the update, I look forward to finding the answer.
I assume that it's not an issue with the lat long decimals vs degrees min sec type thing? I know there are about 3 or 4 different methods of writing lat longs.
