Can anyone advise us if we can tighten the locking mechanism on one of the legs on our Omnistor 8000 wind out awning?

When we erected our new safari residence room recently, we had problems with one of the legs; ie it was not staying in the locked position and so one corner kept collapsing under the weight of the safari room.

We are hoping this can be adjusted in some way but how is the question????

Thanks.

Sue

Hi Sue

The ancient grey cells are struggling here, but I think there is a bit of the clamping mechanism that falls out under certain circumstances.

If nobody else can help, when it dries up a bit I'll go out and have a close look at my legs . . . that should keep the neighbours amused. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Dave

P.S. They are not a pretty sight, though I do have a nicely turned ankle! Surprised Laughing Laughing

sorry to hear that Dave, has it turned to the left or right. Rolling Eyes
no help with the awning either, but it is a miserable morning and am trying to cheer up.

Hi again Sue

I've remembered. Rolling Eyes

On the one I saw which wouldn't clamp, there was a skinny little roll pin holding the clamp lever in place and it had moved very slightly so it was out of its hole at one side of the clamp housing.

I hope that makes sense . . . the clamp lever pivots on the little roll pin, and it needs to be located both sides in the lever bracket/housing thingy!! (Hope you can handle these technical terms! Laughing Laughing )

Have a close look. You will soon see if it's sticking out a bit at one side.

Dave Very Happy

Thanks again. Smile

I have had exactly the same problem with the rear leg on my Omnistor awning. Any tension on it and it slowly collapses despite being locked. My dealer looked at it when the van was in for a hab service a few weeks ago and they have said a new lock is required. Apparently they don't cost much and they are fitting it when it when the van goes back in for some other bits and pieces.

Hi Sue
Same happened to us. Hillview awnings sorted us out with a new locking mechanism.
Gave them a ring and asked them to bring one to Lincoln show, which they did, George fitted it easily.

I think it cost about a fiver. £7ish if delivered to home address including postage.

Thanks Peribro, Angie and Dave, your help is much appreciated. Gilberts gonna look into it all tomorrow and he is chuffed to learn that it sounds relatively simple (and cheap) to rectify! Razz

Well, well, we have the same problem with our awning. Thanks for this bit of advice. Is the new locking thing something we could fit at home?
