A UK Fiat main dealer could reference my vehicle via its VIN number nor UK Reg No., but stated that 2.8jtd was only produced with a 94kw/126bhp rating.

Can anyone please confirm whether this is correct?

Secondly, does anyone know why the Fiat system does not identify my vehicle? Possibly because it was sold to N+B as a chassis/cowl and not a completed vehicle?

A bit worrying if I have to order parts in future.

Thanks in advance.

Geoff

Yes that is correct around 126bhp.... For my truck there's not enough power.... Would have been better around 180bhp to have some grunt when it's needed.... I can't commit on the vin numbers have no idea, your ideas seem about right to me....

Further you can always have the engine remapped to increase the power, but I'm keeping out of that debate Wink

This has been covered before, the UK version is only 126BHP. They did a version in Europe that had over 140BHP. This model had a larger turbo, but this could not be fitted on the RHD version.

Thanks lads.

I thought there was a version with a different turbo but the dealer did not know about it.

Jezport has resolved that for me - UK was only 126 bhp.

I just need the info for getting a quote for a retrofit particulate filter from Euro III to IV and one which, with its relevant paperwork, will comply with German Umweltzone AND London EZ.

But that is worth its own thread and I do not want to go off-topic here. Sufficient to say I am waiting a reply from Tfl lawyers as to why they will accept a non-UK fitted, non-VOSA-tested filter for a German visitor but not for a British citizen.

I am still interested to know why my VIN does not show on Fiat's database.

It should be on the FIAT database my A class which has only the chassis/cowl is on it.

BTW the JTD Power version was only available LHD, it has a bigger variable geometry turbo and a bigger inter-cooler giving it 147 bhp and max torque from 1,500rpm, it's a very relaxing motor to drive.
