New 2012 Autotrail apache on x250 cab, so that makes it can bus wiring.
Bought s/h a PWS towbar that was on a similar vehicle 2010 Mohawk.
Towbar has bolted straight as we had the same chassis extension.
NOW ELECTRICS.... The previous guy I assume had the bar fitted originally at the bar manufacturers and then disconnected it all himself. So gave me the wiring etc, However on the original fit it has a "Ryder 7 bypass"
http://www.rydertowing.co.uk/towbar_relay_technical/towbar_relays_TF2217.aspx

Now from everything I read on the net, can bus wiring should have a vehicle specific connection... BUT how come the bar manufacturers have used this by pass and does anyone think it's safe to use it now on my vehicle..
This is probably gonna get me even more confused !!! Confused

If the original owner of the tow bar had the same X250 cab as your Autotrail then I think the Ryder bypass relay should be compatible with your vehicle.

Why not give Ryder a ring to confirm?

Good morning Tonka
My good friend over in Yorkshire had a 2010 700SE and had a PWS tow bar fitted with Ryder Relay. All worked OK. I had 2009 700SE with another make of tow bar, again with Ryder Relay. All worked OK. Hope this helps.

I know its being cheeky, but I will ask. Can I interest you in a genuine pair of 2009 corner steadies with bolts off my 2009 700SE?

Colin

Ok... Thanks both..
Thats put my mind at ease, I tried calling Ryder the other day but no one seemed to answer.. however just called them and got straight through and they confirmed it was fine. They did say I could also buy a dedicated can bus one BUT "they are expensive".

The fact that someone has heard of them and seen them on other vans is a great comfort.. Just called a local mobile fitter and he's coming to wire it in this afternoon, cant be bothered myself as I need to get other bits sorted before we leave on monday.

Colin, will have a think on the steadies. Have to see how much "rock" we get first Wink
