Well, we've taken the plunge and bought our first MH and are collecting it on Monday. It's a Pilote Galaxy 270 (1999/V) with 44k miles on the clock. So excited! Can't wait to begin the adventures.
Not a Galaxy owner but I can share your excitement !
Enjoy your new van and hope all goes well at the handover. Take a notebook or even record the handover as you will forget so much; there's a huge amount to take in. Make sure you tell the dealer- in writing if possible- of any faults, things missing or poor finishes before you leave the premises.
I'd endorse what Grizzly says - take your time at the handover, ask as many questions as you can think of and write lots of notes - a large "post it" pad might be handy so you can stick notes against switches etc. to remind you what they do when you get home.
If you do hit problems, there are plenty of people on here who will be able to give you advice.
The only Galaxy I know about is a chocolate bar but I am sure you will enjoy your new home from home
We were 'teased' into a motorhome thru three much smaller 'campervans' before we bought a motorhome
We have had tons of weekends away, a month long trip to Portugal for our daughters wedding and are leaving for a 8 monther first week in April so we are still loving it
Have fun in yours - plenty of advice on here for sure
______________________________________________________________ Current MH is Compass Calypso on VW T4. Last one was Autosleeper Trooper on a T4 and before that two VW T2 campers - you get the idea...?
May I add my welcomes too - once in you will find owning a MH is like an addictive drug and VERY hard to give up!
The thrill of Monday will be immense, as Grizzly says take a notebook or something 'cos at such a time of excitement you will not remember anything like all that is said to you....
As a teacher we were reminded frequently during training that 95% of what we remember comes from seeing and doing and less than 5% from listening.............
Hence, of course why as teachers we talked a lot!!
But seriously there are lots of things that afterwards you will think "what did he/she say about..........?" and you will feel a wally asking.
MHF is a VERY helpful forum - if you ask a question you will probably get great answers in minutes (except I also have not had a Galaxy ), my first question about a step retraction failure saved me a 150 mile trip back to the dealer.........
So, enjoy collecting it and planning what where, when and how you are going to enjoy using it. I suggest your first trip should be near to the dealer so that if there is something you have forgotten it is easy to sort out (not in their car park but within a few miles and not to far from home).
There is a wealth of information on the Members Motorhome Guides which will give you quick answers to many things;
(But I think you have to be a subscriber to gain access there....... but happy to be proved wrong and subscribing £12.50 for a year is excellent value IMO)
Welcome and we hope to hear more from you as you enjoy yourselves,
Dave

Hi guys
What a fab time.
The excitement is soooooooooooo good.
We got ours last year a Hobby. (So sorry can't help much)
I asked loads of questions forgot the answers and had to ask again several times. We really hope you have loads of excitement and fun.
Wow, what a warm welcome from you all - thanks so much for the good wishes and much needed advice!
Well, tomorrow beckons and with it a sense of excitement and a few worries, which I'm sure will disappear once we're all under way. We've done the caravanning thing with small children in the past and for 12 years have enjoyed a mobile home in Brittany, but the winds of change beckoned and the pull of the open road was too much to resist for my wandering spirit.
Great advice about taking notes and using post-it notes - I've got a brain like a sieve!
We too got the bug from borrowing a friends VW T4 and loved the freedom and flexibility but needed a bit more luxury, the ability to stand up and a proper loo..!!
I'll be signing up for a full membership when I've got a moment.
