Hi, have recently got my first ever motorhome (YaYYYYY!)
And am thinking about touring Sapin for a few months soon. Obviousy have LPG calor gas can for heating cooking etc, but have heard that calor aren't in Europe. What do they use over there, or is it just one particular brnd in Spain? And can I buy the correct regulator here before I go?

Also, any difference in price? I use a 13kg orange LPG cannister in the UK.

You will need a different connector than you use on the calor in Spain you have Repsol and Cepsa both have the same fitting for butane and Propane.

You can not get the bottles as freely as you can with calor but it is easier that it has been.

On Camping Torre del Mar the lorry driver will sell you a bottle with out any checks. You can some times get them at boot Fairs as well.

The regulators can be bought in most hardware stores and gas outlets. You can also purchase the pipe you will need.

If I was you I would source any fitting you would need in the UK, just makes life easier.

Andy

Hi

If you plan to spend several months away (in Spain or anywhere else) it might be worth considering a Gaslow or Alugas system.

If the idea interests you please ask further questions. There are lots of expert members who know about both systems and use them all the time.

You can buy a Jumbo adaptor which will allow you to connect to Spanish gas bottles.

Dave/Zebedee is the expert on that. I bought one on his recommendation and can now use Spanish bottles when I need to, Alan.

Is this the one you mean Alan?

. . . . Available >> From here << Possibly cheaper from other places, but I think the postage was higher so evened out. I couldn't be bothered to fuss over a couple of quid, and these people were very quick and helpful when I phoned to ask if the gadget comes fitted with the thicker rubber washer which is required for some Continental bottles . . . . it does! Wink

I bought a Jumbo (spanish bottle) regulator from a Ferreteria in Andalucia last week and the flexible low-pressure hose with fixing (jubilee-type) clips fro 10.30 euros.

Sometimes campsites lend you the spanish bottle for the duration of your stay and you only pay about 17 euros for the (11kg) gas.

Lots of people on the campsite are using this method of gas supply.

This is an adaptor NOT A REGULATOR ...you can fit this if your van has its own regulator.

I think this is what Alan called a jumbo adaptor

Brian
Just edited and added a picture of a regulator for comparison as mentioned you can get these locally in ferreteria (hardwareshop) for between 7.5€ /10€

The adaptor is harder to come by you need a good hardware shop or the shop that sells the bottles usually about 10€/12€

That's the one Brian. I also bought a right angle connector because I understand some bottles have a collar which the pipe may foul, Alan.
