Hello All

We're looking for household building and contents insurance which will provide cover when the house is vacant for a few months whilst touring. Does anyone know of a company that provides this cover as the few I've spoken to seem to limit at 60 days?

I have unsuccessfully tried the search facility. Smile

We use Comfort Insurance for both Motorhome and house insurance. Cover for 120 days was no problem. Premium IIRC was about £70 (additional to cover period away).

try Camping and Caravanning Club, we insured ours with them and they only came out at £20 p.a more than previous insurers and cover is for up to 180 days away.

We've just gone through the same problem - we were with Lloyds TSB, who gave us 3 different answers as to where we stood in 4 phone calls, including the statement that we'd have to turn off electricity and leave burglar alarm on!
After deciding we probably couldn't be sure what they would cover, tried C&CC - who do cover up to 180 days but their underwriters didn't like us living by the sea.
We've ended up with NFU Mutual - they impose conditions over 60 days, but nothing too onerous, and the quote was around £200 below our previous policy.

Is it possible to arrange for a family member or close friend (who may hold a key anyway) to "do a sleep over" once every 28 days? This breaks the cycle and you can rely on your ordinary insurance. We do this when we go away for 6 weeks and our insurance broker advised us originally.

If they were willing to "camp" in the house it would not even be necessary to turn on the services.
