got a hp netbook for xmas anyone know whether they can be charged off a 12 volt supply
transformer says
input100-240v-1.1A50/60HZ
output19.5v--_2.05A 40W Max
dont know whether i'm overcomplicating the issue or if they do an off the shelf accessory

Maplins do an adapter which will do the job, much more efficient than using an inverter.

Ditto as Gaspode, just check that the adpter heads will fit your computer.

It fits my Advent netbook and Sony but not 'Er Indoors Dell.

dont know joe would be a little worried that power would be wrong though i have that setup easily to hand , just dont want to burn it out???

You'll need more than 3 amps at 12v to power that laptop, much more than a USB port can handle.

A USB has a power out functionality only, it's 5 volts and very little current.

To charge the lappy you need either an inverter for the mains charger or a special 12v charger as described by gaspode, they are the only to options.
