I keep getting this message.

"Updating on this computer will only preserve contacts, calendars, text messages, and other settings. Please do not interrupt the update, which may take an hour or longer to complete. iTunes will verify the software update with Apple."

Has anyone else (recently) had the same issues?

I have synced
I have backed up
I have authorised my iPhone on this computer!

I am at a loss

Not a problem, once updated you have the facility of restoring from backup, because you have backed up your phone, it is there to be re-installed.

When I upgraded mine and my families countless number of iPhones and iPads (or that's what it seemed) to 5.01 I did all of them on the devices (settings / general / software update). They all worked fine and when next plugged into their relevant Macs / PC's there were no issues.

MMMmmmm.......... Our IT man kept telling me to upgrade the system for my iPhone3. I have had it an age and never bothered. I use it AS A PHONE and have very few APP's [just 3] and all has been great.

In fact I used to get extraudinary battery life.

Upgraded last week. Now battery life is crap and the little bat % number has vanished........together with the hundreds of stored contacts and phone numbers. I expect I will find other issues as I work through.

Not the greatest Tecno I expect it was something I did wrong, but can't see what!.......

Anyway.....Slightly off topic.......off to Morocco the weekend so it is now safely encased in its armoured, water-proof, dust-proof casing ........ they really are the bee's for outdoor/working enviroment. BUT, I still rate my back-up JCB Tough Phone.

Dont forget that once you have 5.01 you can text and send pics to other 5.01 iphones F.O.C.

I did it last night/this morning.

Duplicated a lot of photos, everything else (so far) seems ok.

Seems a tad faster.

For your battery %; tap settings; general; usage, scroll down to battery usage and select 'on'. did you back your contacts etc. up before you updated if so you can restore them. I use Outlook for contacts, calendars and email and sync them with iTunes. I also have contacts in groups something that Apple say you can't do but I have managed it see my tutorial here

Thanks for that Zappy......the phone is actually an i4, but I expect all is the same.

Re entering all the contacts gave Debbie something to do so no probs there.

What has pee'd me off is the battery life I am now getting. I now have to put on charger every night, if I forget........gone!!!!
