Hello All,

I have a 21 inch Avtex TV on which I would like to record programmes when I am out. I tried it out last night using a USB memory stick. I could succesfully record a programme whilst the TV was switched on but not when it was in standby mode.

The problem is this, if I want to go out and leave the TV on standby to save power etc and record, what do I have to do?

Doesn't it defeat the object of being a recorder when I have to sit there and watch the same channel whilst recording and leave the set on when I go out ??????

Your help appreciated as always.

Yeah, also annoying that it will not record from the Scart or HDMI inputs from a satellite box.
Only one digital and one analogue tuner built in so can't record one channel whilst watching another. I guess adding an extra tuner would up the cost and size.
Guess we have to live with it or buy a separate PVR.

I suspect the tuner is not active in standby mode to save power Rolling Eyes

Try contacting Avtex. They are usually very helpful.

Would agree with jedi.

i had the same problem and rang Avtex.

they said something like this:-

there are a number of channels that are broadcast on the same frequency/band. all BBc and ITV/ channel 4.

you can record any one of these linked channels provided you leave it on the channel you want to record.

i also understand t should record on standby.

But if I were you I would ring them and talk it rhorough with them.

I have found Avtex fantastic for customer service.

i had two problems with the DVd player on a 3 month old TV. They put in a new DVd player the first time, and on the second time they replaced it with a brand new latest model! They have always been helpful when I have asked "stupid" questions.

cheers

bob

Thanks for that jedi and bob. I will give them a call tomorrow.

I love this tv, so easy to use and fab picture quality, but I just feel a bit let down with the "recordable tv" feature.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. Wink
