Has anyone put anti puncture liquid into their bicycle tyres and if so how did they find it

Yes, did it in one of our children's bikes and it worked VERY well, tried the same thing in the lawn tractor and it didn't!

So mixed results for you - but the lawn tractor was eventually diagnosed as the rim had not seated properly onto the edge of the tyre so not perhaps a fair criticism.

Cycle punctures the bane of my life.

I use cycle tracks to go from site into Ipswich every day and my record is 5 punctures in a week. A ride an MTB.

So I changed the tubes and bought the ones with green gunge in.

Touch wood so far in two weeks I have not had a puncture.

But they do weigh three times the normal tubes.

But when I used my Biancchi road bike, I never use any gunge as the tyres do not seem to run very well with it in.

Hi Olley

We have "Slime" in our bike tyres and I carry a pre "slimed" spare tube as well.

No punctures since adding the Slime....but you know what will happen now don't you ...and it will all be your fault Laughing

You sure about that Mike? Confused

The owner (Paul) of the Cycle Centre in Alcester showed me a tyre when I first enquired about Slime, and was a bit dubious about its claims.

The owner of the tube had come into the shop ranting about the puncture he had, and yelling at Paul for selling him "that useless Slime rubbish".

Paul replaced the tube and when the bloke came back to collect his bike he showed him the old tube . . . . which had sustained 39 puntures. Surprised Surprised

38 of them were thorns and the bloke had never even been aware that he had picked one up.

The 39th was a half inch slash from a piece of glass, and nothing will stop a leak like that!! Rolling Eyes

Needless to say the bloke was suitably chastened, and went away with a completely different opinion of Slime.

True story. Wink

No punctures since adding slime to our bikes 2 years ago.

Mind I never had a puncture in the previos 12 years on the same bike.

I have it in my bike and used it for years in grass cutting equipment etc. I know it worked in the machinery as it reduced my monthly bill for puncture repairs dramatically. I won't know about my bicycle till I change a tube and have a look at the old one. I also have it in my van tyres and I know it works there as I have had a bolt and a screw in one tyre, Alan.

Absolutely brilliant stuff. I use Slime in all our bike tyres and various bits of garden equipment and have had no punctures. Prior to using it, I was getting punctures on a regular basis in the bike tyres and wheelbarrow. None since.

I added a plastic re-enforcing strip round the inside of the tyre and that seemed to help with less punctures.

I dont use Slime, I use "Stans No-Tubes' or Joes as it is now called.

Been using it for around 5 years now. I run it in my mountain bikes, two of which I run without inner tubes. I have probably covered around 15k miles in that time and never had a flat.

Best thin I ever did.
