Sorry, I don't get the point of your post. Are you recommending the use of this item to fill ordinary bottles that don't have 80% cut off, or warning against it?
______________________________________________________________ Just when i found out my dad was right I had a son that thought I was wrong.....Henry winkler.
Please tell me that these dangerous items, imho, are not for sale again.
I think e-bay have only let them on as the wording has been changed.
there is no way you can tell when it has reached the 80% cut off level.
Can we not have someone at Calor contact ebay and give them the word.
cabby
Thank you cabby for explaining this to the member, i just cant be bothered
Maybe I am missing something here........
these things have been discussed at length and the overwhelming comment was that they are dangerous as they do not offer the protection that is required for the safe refilling of LPG cylinders.
that is something we should all be bothered with surely?
If their use became more common, I wonder how long it would be before the refilling of any LPG cylinders was stopped throughout Europe. It only takes one or two fires caused by such things for there to be an outcry and such activities made illegal.
Surely that is something we should all be bothered about?
If you are concerned that people MIGHT follow your link to buy such articles may I suggest that the link is modified so that it does not lead there?
If someone is determined to find such things they will undoubtedly do so, do we need to help them?
That certainly bothers me.
Please advise us all so that we are aware of what you are not bothered about - the device or explaining why they have been condemned on here so soundly.

Extracted from that site;
It is also fitted with a safety check valve, this is vital to safety, generally cheap copies do not have this super safety feature.
The safety check valve prevents the free flow of gas from the bottle should you forget to shut off the bottle valve before releasing the filler gun. Very important if you absent minded like me.
snipped
Included on the adapter is a conversion chart so you always know how much to put in your bottle.
There is a set procedure to filling your bottle, you must adhere to the instructions to ensure your safety and the safety of others, it is not complex but it is more involved than filling a car, if your not technically minded please don't purchase this adapter.
Filling stations are beginining to stop adapters being used, be it for cars or bottles, the same way some years ago they started to stop filling petrol cans for lawnmowers ect, although there is currently no law to prevent you using an adapter, please respect the wishes of the filling stations.
That does not reassure me about the safe use of such items.......
Reason for change by Penquin: Inserting snipped extract from the link provided.
these are dangerous full stop, practically they work, i.e. you can physically use them to top up your standard (none user refillable propane etc bottles)
dangerous, hell yes. I would not (and in turn therefore MHF) would not condone their use
I wrote in more detail about it recently but cannot find the post.
I am trained and work with Industrial Gasses and can only warn you of the extreme dangers that the practice of filling with these adapters can result in.
To give you an example of how dangerous it is.
A certain manufacturer has had problems with some of it's American Style Fridge/Freezers.
These Fridge freezers contain just 88 grammes of Isobutane refrigerant. When a certain fault occurs, ignition of a percentage of this gas (thought to be just 70% (or around 60 grammes)). It causes the freezer door to blow clean of its extra strength hinges.
Put 1,000 times that (6kG) in a caravan / motorhome locker and think of the consequences if the bottle simply bursts without igniting.
as has allso been said many times if used as intended ie only refill an empty bottle with the quoted amount of gas there is no danger whatsoever. danger of overfilling is not of bottle damage, it is impossable to fill to excess pressure it is about leaving a 20% air space in bottle so that you only draw off gas & not liquid(as you would to run an engine). anyone with half a brain can do this perfectly safely anyone below this level or unsure of principals involved should leave well alone, but such hysteria as this subject invokes from ignorant and uninformed opinion is stupid. i doubt anyone would buy one if they did not understand the principals. a bit like wilding really some like most abhor. regards dave
