Idea Lots of POI traffic - suggest you try http://www.poihandler.com/index.asp for downloads.
Remember though that any speed camera data on the SatNav will make it liable to seizure on the continent as all such devices are illegal!

Hmmm . . this poses the question - should I delete the speed camera POI's before I go 'over the water' ??

AFAIK, GPS camera locators are not illegal - there are plenty of reputable sites giving access to continental POI data for cameras.

Radar and Laser Detectors, however, are a complete no-no.

(a situation which will prevail in the UK before too long).

Exclamation Sorry guys and gals but IT IS ILLEGAL for radar detection of ANY kind in most continental countries. Try at your peril and even have your mhome taken until you pay the fine if you wish to debate the issue. Pip pip. Twisted Evil

I agree, Radar and Laser detection are illegal in most EU countries, but GPS location of cameras through Satnav is NOT Radar or Laser, and is also not AFAIK illegal.

TomTom, Garmin etc will provide downloads of camera POIs for most EU countries (including France) and numerous French sites advertise 100% legal GPS camera location devices.

Here is a site that deals with details on use of gps radar/laser units in the Uk and Europe.

http://www.radardetectors.co.uk/radar_detector_law.htm

I own a Snooper Neo 4 evolution which has European database information. As I run through the length of England before I get to the ferry I will of course be using mine. I might lock it up for the other side though.

Why is it illegal to use, but not own, why is it not better to be warned of potential risk than just driving into it. I cannot see why it is illegal to have a detector if the police can hide behind hedges, use unmarked cars and generally skulk about.
No risk to national security or chance of terrorist attack from my Snooper.

Hi

In France or wherever else it is not allowed:
If you are using TomTom or something like that why not turn off the sound warning and then go into the storage card where the POi's of your speed traps are stored and change the bitmaps and details to wayside shrines? Laughing

Mike
