Can anyone inform me of the advantage of having 2 leisure batteries in my Motorhome. I have noticed while looking to purchase a Motorhome, that in some adverts they specify extra leisure battery fitted. Does this mean that both leisure batteries are in use at the same time?
I would appreciate any advice as I am a newbie,
Thanks

Hi Daddydave and welcome,
The advantages of 2 batteries are that you effectivly double the capacity of the storage. They are wired so both are in use at the same time and the extra capacity give an element of longer use when not on hookup. Both batteries should be of a similer age and capacity ie 2 x 85ah, 2 x 110ah etc, hope this is of assistance.

Hi Malc,
Thanks for your quick reply.
Does that mean that both batteries are permanently connected and will charge together?
Hopefully, we are off tomorrow on our first 'adventure' to try out the van. We are not going too far this trip, just a few hundred miles to keep the wife happy. She is desperate for a break.

Hiya, daddydave

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your visits here.

I think your question's been answered. Hope you have a good first trip. "Just a few hundred miles", eh? So not too far, then? Wink

Gerald
