According to the manual with our Autotrail Cheyenne 634 we have a Carver 4000 heater. The manual is a bit vague in its description and the heater doesn't actually have any name, model number, etc., on it.
As we got the 'van in September we haven't needed to use the heater so far, and when I went round the 'van 'getting used ot everything' I checked the heater on gas and (I assumed) electricity combined (on 240V hook-up, of course). The manual seems to say that you can use the heater with gas or electricity or both together. Just tried running it on electricity alone and all I seem able to get is lovely cold air being ducted around.
Should the 4000 be able to run just on mains? Alternatively - does anyone have a website for Carver - can't find then witha Google search
TIA
Mike
hi Mike,
the heater l should work on gas or electric or both, for electric blown air only first select the output on the control panel above the door, turn the outer dial to either 2000,1000,or 500.I suggest the 2000w setting for a quick test. The green led should light up on the dial, then adjust the inner dial to your desired setting, again set it to maximum to check it is working ok.Next you have to switch on the fan at the carver unit,on the right hand side on top of the fire push the small black switch to fully to the left(centre position is off)this will switch the fan on maximum speed and you should get warm air through the ducts after about 5 minutes. If you don't then it's time to check the fault finding flow chart!!You can also adjust the speed of the fan by pushing the black switch to the right(A position)and setting the inner dial to you desired setting,I find 5 is a good starting point.

Mnay thanks for the prompt reply.
I am beginning to wonder if mine actually is a 4000 as the controls don't match your description. Forgot to say in my original post that the 'van is a 2000 so perhaps there have been changes.
My control panel is the Zig and doesn't have any controls for the heater - just the water heater, water gauge, battery condition, waste level indicator, and switches for pump and lights.
On the fire itself (ignoring the gas element) the only controls are a three position switch for the fan (off, low speed, high speed) and a slider which must be intended to control heat level.
