Well after owning a home converted VW T4 and now a Mazda Bongo my wife now thinks its time to get something a little bigger and plusher. We have trawled round the local dealers. My god some are very pushy! And came across a Carioca 665G that we liked, especially the garage. Which would be good for all our beach toys and our two daughters kit!

What do people think to these vans? Any pitfalls? Good as a family van?

Is now a good time to buy? Or should we wait and see what the new '07 models are like.

Its such a hard decision! Any help appreciated! Very Happy

656 has a, err .. 656. He was at Binton this weekend, so I don't know when he'll be in range of the internet again. He seems to love his. Don't know if he has any opinions on the 665. Maybe you could PM him? Or perhaps check on the memberlist, which now has the owner's van displayed. I think you can search for all Cariocas.

I just noticed that you're not a subscriber, Noserider, so you won't be able to PM (but worth Ģ10, eh? Wink )

I just did the search, and got 75 Cariocas on the forum.

Hi Noserider

Have the C I Riviera delux, 2000 model, 5 berth, no garage, it was the layout I was looking for and have NO regrets with it, a few hours at T B Turbo gave me 123 BHP, so with the little extra power I have no reason to change the MH , a few on this site will soon be along with more info,

Good luck

looked around one at a show, the only thing that put us off were the rear seats which to my children seemed very upright, not sure how comfortable they'd be on a long journey. But as I say it was just a brief look

I have a CI Riviera Garage P - have loved the garage for 2 years - definitely full of beach toys - surf boards, kayaks, body boards, hammock, frizbee, dogfood, junk ... ha ha.

Now have decided need more room and the garage has to go. Going to go for a double floor to slide the surfboard into on the next van. Possibly a small RV.

I would definitely buy a garaged motorhome again but only if it was really long and didn't affect the floorspace which has now become a priority.

Not sure I'd buy a CI again though. Had to wait 15 months for repairs when someone ran into the side of us as the parts had to be ordered for Italy. Real hell it was. Then again, we have a left hand drive import so that could have affected it.

Hi Noserider

We have Carioca 5 and are delighted with it. It is a 2003 model, which will have had any little problems ironed out by now. We have only had it 3 months, but it has been ideal. It has twin bunks at the rear, the bottom lifts to give a decent "garage" (You wouldn't get a scooter in it!).

It has a good size dinette with 4 belted seats, 2 of which are 3 point. Plus the cab makes 6. It has a 2.0ltr JTD which, although pretty adequate, is slightly lacking on bigger hills. You get used to it though. The later models have a 2.3ltr, I believe.

All in all it is great value for money. Ours was Ģ19995 with 6000 miles, 12 months warranty, MOT and Tax, from Campbells in Preston.
