We want to visit relatives in the north Manchester area on Boxing Day and stay for a couple of days.

So far, the only nearby sites I have found are not open in the winter.

They are in Radcliffe so I guess it's the Bolton - Bury - Rochdale area which would be suitable.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

Geoff

Well, there's the new CC site at Bury, I think it's open all year. I can also personally recommend the CL at Nightingale Farm at Blackrod but that's quite a bit further away. It does have magnificent views though and the owner is a smashing chap - just ask him to show you his collection of vintage tractors.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately, the CC website shows the Burrs Country Park site is closed until 16 Feb 07.

Looks like we're going to have to join the Caravan Club sooner than we planned so we can try your recommended CL at Blackrod.

Hi Geoff

The owners name is W E Kay and phone number (01942) 831062. The location is listed by the CC as Wigan but is in fact at Blackrod. It might be worth phoning before you spend your cash on CC membership just to make sure he will be open. He has a gravel hard standing area if the weather is bad and has a couple of hook-ups too. It's a very exposed site but the veiw across the whole of the Bolton area is superb.
