Greetings from a newbie. I am interested in buying a 2 berth, with toilet facilities etc, but want to be able to drive it (and park it) daily. Generally then a van conversion.
Went to the Excel show in London and got even more confused. Liked the Tribute, and the Romahome Dimension, but amazingly was most impressed with Lifestyle Developments 'St Tropez', though it doesn't have a toilet/washroom as such. Great vehicle though.
Would like the new 2007 chassis vehicles if poss.
Any thoughts, or are you all as cofused as me?

Welcome to the site oldenstar. We might not be able to supply all the answers but we usually have a go !

The lack of a loo is, for me, a serious disadvantage. Depends on when and how you use your van but without one you will be limited to campsites and then you'll have to face the possibility of a trek across a wet / cold / windy /dark field to some distant loo block. Shower I could cope without; loo never !

Hi, Oldenstar, and welcome. Welcome to confusion, too!

Although we have a coachbuilt, we've been thinking of downsizing for a little while now. We were initially impressed with the Trigano, but the built and fit quality wasn't that good, and it didn't seem that comfortable.

At Excel, we sat for a while in the IH TIO R - it has a rear lounge, which oncverts into a bed. The under-bed storage was big. The cab seats were used as the normal 2-up lounge, with individual tables for driver and passenger. See *** here ***

In fact, we may well have placed an order if it wasn't for the fact that the bed was transverse. We can't do transverse beds.

Oh, and it had the usual stuff - full washroom and shower / toilet, cooker and fridge. Nice van. Expensive, though.

Gerald

No need to do without a loo at all Rolling Eyes

Mine may not be as 'convenient' Laughing as others but it is there - just open the door, slide it out, lid up, and there you go Laughing

I too wanted to be able to drive my motorhome/camper around as my main vehicle so size is important. My Caravelle takes up the space of an estate car which is good.

When buying mine I just wanted to be able to go out, have coffee when and where I fancied, do a wee when and where I needed to and sleep in it if I didn't want to go home.

Of course there are disadvantages but I think you get some of those no matter what size you go for.

I have a fridge, water containers, sink, drainer, grill, 3 ring hob, wardrobe, lots storage, 2 single or one double bed, hook-up facility, gas heater.

Decide what you want to do with your motorhome then go and look at lots before deciding.

Hope this helps Wink

Trisha darling

What exactly are we talking about with the "slide it out"?

It sounds like a bed pan unless I have a warped mind!

Hi oldenstar,

I have downsized recently and the one thing I couldn’t get on with was making the beds and putting them away again in the morning, I did try, honest, but it’s just not for me.

I have now found what I consider my perfect camper, folding bed that folds away to the ceiling, loads of storage for a small van, quite, comfortable, and the quality of the finish is great and still small enough to use daily.

The only problem at the moment is the lack of dealers, only Don Ammots has been listed as the dealer but recently I have heard of one or two others being taken on. I think Marquis was one, another was around Manchester but I can’t remember the name.

Sea sloop (daft name) 5 is what I bought, and Sea now own Auto-Sleeper amongst others, their web site is not much at the moment http://www.seacamper-sloop.com/eng/modelli.wbl they did have another site listing all the companies they own but is down at the moment.

Pictures of mine below:

Hi Russell, sweetheart,

Put those crude thought away, it is the usualy type of Porta Potti but kept in a cupboard as opposed to having it's own 'room'. Bit of a pain but you get used to it.

Rob, MHS, like the sound of yours, I presume there are more piccies in your album??

Did you see the Wingamm Micros at Excel? Website *** here ***

They had some great ideas, and a drop-down bed like Rob's. Fascinating.
