Hi, I'm completely new to the camper game (don't even own a camper yet) so I have a few beginner questions.
First of all, I'm on a budget so whatever I go for will have to be 2nd hand (probably an e-bay number). I've been looking at old VWs with the pop-up roofs because I don't want a high-top. Are there any other similar makes or models that I should be looking for?
I'm pretty keen on cusomising the inside of the camper as much as possible - any advice on building the whole interior from scratch? Are there any guides for interior rennovation around?

I'm sure I had more questions earlier but can't seem to remember them all right now so I'll return later.

Thanks for the help guys,
Keith

Hi Keith and welcome to MHF.

We ran a Toyota Hi Ace Devon Sunrise for many years. They're still around and an ideal vehicle to start with - loads of opportunities for putting in your own fittings.

Good luck with your hunting.

Hi, Keith, and welcome to the site.

"Pop-tops" seem to be having a bit of a renaissance just now -- I think Jamie Oliver tooling around in an old VW has reminded people how funky campervans can be.

Have a look at the relevant section on Ebay - see ** here **. There are loads of small, low-cost vans on there to whet your appetite. Obviously (or maybe not) there are all sorts of potential problems when dealing with Ebay, if you haven't before. If you see anything. by all means post a link, and ask for advice.

Happy hunting!

Gerald

Hi

For the interior, you could try people like O Leary Motorhomes in Hull or Rainbow Conversions who I think are located near Peterboro'

Welcome to the site Keith. This one might be useful as well;

http://www.sbmcc.co.uk/

There was some useful advice very recently on MHF about buying on E-bay.
