Not sure this is the right place but couldn't find a Renault area so here goes. Looking to upgrade to a newer motorhome following a foolish trip to the NEC show recently. I'm happy with what we've got but my better half wants to part with a lot of money, so... Fiat based seem to have market share but looking at a Renault based motorhome which seems to fit the bill with the 3.0 dci engine. This is I believe actually a variant of the Nissan common rail diesel power unit. Trippped over a Renault Forum and found a frightening posting commenting on a severe difficulty in getting parts from either Renault or Nissan coupled with all sorts of reliability issues. Fractured pipes, blown head gaskets and the like. Anyone out there with tales of woe or otherwise of course, to help me either steer clear or consider as the case may be. Thanks in advance. Phil

I dont know anything about the 3.0 litre Nissan but I do have a Renault 2.5 Turbo, Automatic, 6 speed, Cruise Control, ABS, Snow Mode, Load Position, Trip Computer, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors and Air Conditioning. Swivel seats as standard.

Believe the 2.5 to be a new Renault diesel engine and nothing to do with Nissan.

Have no complaints only praise. Dont know anything about spares either as none have been required. Used no oil to date. First service is two years or 24 thousand miles.

Cruises at 70 mph and returns 26 mpg. Very comfortable and the auto box makes driving a pleasure.

Hope this helps

Gordon

That sounds a little more promising... perhaps the 3 ltr engine is the one with the problems. Anyone know anything else please. I'm viewing a Burstner Megavan with the 3.0 dci engine on sunday. The Burstner bit I have no difficulties with. Everyone on here sings their praises as far as I can see. Just wondering about the power unit. We'll see. Cheers, Phil
