Hi I would like to buy my husband a reversing camera for our new motorhome as a christmas gift but I don't know which one is best . I don't understand how you fit them so Im really in the dark. Can anyone advise me. The motorhome is 24Ft - not sure if that info is needed but obviously the length of cable might be an issue. Please forgive my ignorance on this matter. Loobyloo

Hi Loobyloo,
I don't have a camera myself but there are a lot to choose from, there are many members here that do and I'm sure their advice will come.
In the meantime, you can look through the sites own motorhome store, the link below will take there. It will give you a lot of info and explain about camera's.

If your going to go down the "do it yourself" route, first you need a camera. Theres loads of different types about, both in colour and black & white versions. Obviously, the more you pay, the better the camera! I got a cheap one off ebay and although it does the job, its not as good a quality picture as others ive seen that are more expensive.
To connect your camera to a monitor, you need a cable. This one is ideal and comes in different lengths. I got away with a 10m one on my motorhome, but its only 22ft long. You'll have to measure from the camera to where the monitor would go and dont forget cable has to be routed out the way, so allow for that. Heres the cable LINK.
After that you need a monitor. The type depends on if you've got a colour cam or a b&w one. Size is also to be considered. I have a colour cam and went for a 7" colour lcd display.
Last but not least you need a regulated power supply for your camera. Here's a link to one.
A wise choice Loobyloo, I had one fitted and found it extremely useful when reversing and for checking cars behind me, mine was bought off the internet for £165 but the company is now closed but there are many companies out there:
Also try on ebay I have seen some good deals on there, I wired my camera and monitor direct to the 12 volt supply with no problems.
I have a 7" screen which is a nice size but rather large to have on the dash, a 5" would have been more suitable. some monitors double as a TV as mine does but the reception leaves a lot be desired but can be watched as an extra set if required.
Best of luck in your search and purchase.
You need infra red so that it works in the dark as well.
