I have a 2003 Autosleeper Nuevo ES with Truma electric/gas heater and Truma electric/gas water heater.
Does anyone know if I can use the electric heater whilst the water has been drained from the water heater. I have switched off the switch with the red neon light in the wardrobe marked Truma Ultra Heat . I am afraid to put it back on incase the water heater heats up and is damaged.
What I'm getting at is, does this switch isolate both the van heater and water heater?
Any advice would be very welcome.
Our experience with the Truma Ultraheat systems is that usually the room heater and the water heater are switched seperately, allowing warmth without the need to heat water.
The Truma Combi boiler system is an all in one unit that can be used whether or not there is water in the boiler.
In the absence of a manual to browse through, have a look Ultraheat and Ultrastore
Many thanks for the reply J & R. I have manuals for both Ultra heat and Ultra store, what I'm having troube with is establishing how I isolate power from the water heater, it always starts working as soon as I hook up.
The Ultrastore should have it's own isolation switch, with another close to it with the high/low option.
If you locate the boiler then trace the cable back, it should lead you to the isolation switch. It is usually not very far from the boiler
Also, if the external flue cover is still on, it should not operate on the gas side, as there is a built in safety feature to prevent it from doing so.

Thanks again for the reply J & R. Looking at the control panel there is a rocker switch between the Ultra Heat and Ultra Store it is marked 230v and squiggly lines, guess this may be the isolation switch, switching between battery for gas ignition and 230v operation though I can't find a definitive explanation in my wodge of manuals.
With your van being a 2003 model, controls may have changed from year to year, but the principles are the same.
Is there a thermostat for the water heater, as well as the space heater?
If yes, is there a off/on switch on each of the thermostats. This is usually the method of operating from the gas system, and the switch that you discovered is as you say, for the mains.
If you are still unable to isolate the water heater from the mains supply, try turning the thermostat right down to see if that does the trick, although there will still be mains power to the unit.
Sorry that I cannot be more helpful.
Jock.

Thanks for the reply Jock. I,m going to experiment once I get some water back in the heater, but for now I won't take any chances and will just use the gas heater.

Nogin
Good scheme, however, I am sure it will turn out to be something simple, rather than drastic.
Please let us all know how you get on, as there may be someone else on here with a similiar problem.
All the best,
Jock.
