Hi every one and Happy New Year
Please bear with me as I do not know very much about motorhomes, as I have just purchase my first Motorhome last week and I will be picking it up in February, and I have been reading back on some of your old messages that have been posted on this forum, about its alright running electrical items when you hook up to the mains but what about when you cant and where as a small solar panel for charging the batteries can help, can any body tell me does this trickle charge the battery for starting the engine or for charge the other batteries, also I have read about inverters what do these do.
As I am getting a little bit confused, and the last thing I want is to black out in the middle of know where
Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter

A solar panel is usually just connected to the leisure battery not the engine battery. You can add a device called a "battery master" which connects between both batteries and tops up the engine battery when the leisure one is full.

An inverter is a device which converts the 12V from a battery into 230V mains so you can run mains devices. Be aware though that you will run down the charge fairly quickly if using high powered devices.
