Hi

I think my concern would be more about upsetting the neighbours or a restrictive coventant stating you are not allowed to park the van there.

I park mine on drive no problem
suppose it depends on weight of van and construction of drive
mine is simply mot stone with gravel on top
van rated upto 3.5 tonne
my only worry is if some local scum tries to nick or damage it
then again i would worry even more if it was in storage
plus i couldnt be bothered with the hassle of fetching it out of storage everytime i want to use it

we have a block paving drive & gravel standing area for our van. This was especially laid by landscapers with foundations suitable to take the weight; drives built just for cars may not stand up to the extra weight.

We keep ours in storage so that we don't have to worry about it. There are cameras and alarms everywhere and they have never lost either a M/H or caravan and there must be 300 or more. Permanent guard on duty. Easy to fetch and park on drive for one night and we can leave our car securely parked whilst away.
I may be wrong but I think more M/H's are stolen from drives than anywhere!
Matter of choice I suppose?

I built a parking place in our back garden. I compacted the earth with a wacker plate, used 1 tonne MOT stone as FATALHUD did, and then 1 tonne of gravel on top.

Since then, I've embedded slabs at the points where the wheels normally stand as the gravel was 'dishing' a bit.

Gerald

Hi all,

We normally keep ours in secure storage if more than a week, between trips out. I can cycle over, pop the bike on the back and drive home. Smile

One disadvantage of keeping the MA permanently on the driveway, is that, when it is not there, everyone around knows that the house is probably empty.

The neighbours can't really say anything with regards to keeping the MH on the driveway, as it is a motor vehicle, and not a caravan, or a boat on a trailer, which are normally permitted for maintenance purposes only. According to our deeds anyway.

You would be entitled to park the MH on the street if you so desired, just as the neighbours would be, parking their car.

Jock.
