We're 2 campers (UK) who after 4 weeks campervanning in NZ are tempted to upgrade to the motorhoming lark. We've looked around some stockists in and around Yorkshire and feel the A/S Duetto fits most of our requirements. Not too big yet more storage areas than most. However oldest seen, either live or on internet has been M reg ~£16k+. Are there earlier versions of this type (i.e. cheaper) or any common faults/features to look out for? Any feedback on fuel economy?

Hi, I think the Talbot Harmony is a simmilar size and layout to the Duetto, we have one and love it, ours is a 1991 and we paid £9,000 for it from Marquis in Preston Lancashire. With the older vans be careful with rust round the windscreen especially in the bottom corners, and the wheel arches these areas are notorious for rusting. just make sure they are solid and if you keep on top of them they are ok. There are quite a few older ones out there just be careful what you buy, Smile you will get plenty of help an advice on here. Anne & Tony

Hi, Wrighthouse, and welcome to the site

One of the best investments you can make, if you're looking to buy a more mature van is to buy a damp meter. I think Maplin do one, but I can't find a link to it at the moment. They're quite cheap, and can save a lot of heartache and expense later.

Hi Wrighthouse
As an owner of an M reg Duetto, I can recommed the conversion. The Duetto was launched on an M plate, so it is unlikely you will find one earlier. They can be picked up around £12.5k plus for an M Reg 2.5D (private), Autos commanding a higher price as are TDs. Dealer prices are still £16k plus.
Things to watch out for rust rust rust! wheel arches (double skinned), and tops of front doors seem prone (due to stress point), and bottoms of rear doors particularly bad, watch out for rust in all apertures cut into van too. Spares and Servicing cheap compared with Sevel vans.
Ours is fitted with Airides at the rear which I would recommend. Beware of owner modifications. I can give you some tips on extra storage.
Driving is very relaxing, once you have got used to the buzz of the engine, gearchange is positive and rear wheel drive makes for great driving. Progress up steep hills is steady, but sure footed, and you will not win the traffic light Grand Prix. We get 35mpg on a long run @ 60 mph using mix of diesel and Vegetable oil.
I have got a selection of Duetto road tests and an A/S brochure if you would like copies.
