HI till doing research only 2.5 years to go. Am at the moment looking at an A class of approx 7.5 metres. My question is to those who know. How difficult (or impossible) is it to get onstreet parking in towns with that size van?

Second question; if we found it what are the implications of returning to it and having a kip after a good lunch? I am thinking more about Europe than UK but would be interested about both.

Still trying to sort out/ comprimise on size!!!

thanks in advance Dick

Hi Dick - I recognise that waterfall Very Happy
Can't help with your question but as a 'yet to be' MHmer I do wonder similar things myself so will be pleased to read any responses you get.

Thanks for asking - Paul

as far as on street parking is concerned it the width not the length a lot of the m/h are around 2.220 meters wide

Dick..not an easy question. There are many towns, even in UK ,where you could park and, if you were prepared to pay for 2 slots in a car park then you could park there. In Europe there are MH friendly parking places in many towns and cities. The Camping Car Europe book ( can't remember correct name) ** has them listed.

As to going back for a kip. I have not come across any rules that prohibit this and we have indeed done it ourselves. So long as you don't put out the awning or take your kip on chairs on the pavement or discharge liquid I can see no reason why you should not do this. Clearly if you don't feel it is safe you would not have left your MH there anyway.

We have parked in UK supermarkets while sightseeing and, while we usually do a shop there or buy fuel afterwards, we don't feel obliged to do so. Clearly you'll try park out of the way and not block people. We don't overnight there.

** Guide Officiel d'Aires de Service Camping- Car - a very useful book to have.

Hi

I am wondering, are you talking about a "liquid lunch" ... if so there have been several threads about the law and drinking alcohol while in charge of a motorhome on the highway.

One thread about drink and parking <
