We have a dilemma been offered a Bessacarr 495 brand new for 34.5K or a Suntor 630L second hand for 33K. Now what is the difference between the two is one better than the other. I know they are basically the same thing with different names, does one hold it's value better, is one better equipped than the other. What are the differences?

Thanks

Gav

Hi Gav

I need a bit more info from you really......

1) Is the Besscarr the new 2007 model? If so, it's list price is about £39000 on the road and I think you are looking at a fair deal. If it is the old model (still brand new though) then it is not quite so attractive, but still represents a good discount on the original price.

2) The Suntor - how old is it? Condition?

Personally, I would go for brand new, but come back with more info please.

Also, you have a PM

Russell

Given a choice I would go for the new vehicle every time especially when the price is very similar. The bessacar is the higher spec vehicle usually although the suntor may have a few more added extras as it is a swift but with a dealers spin on it as it were. Go with what your guts tell you. Is the layout the same? People say on here that you know 'the one' when you step through the door - I always thought that my research would be the deciding factor - but you know what? They were right; like you though we were down to a choice of 2 vans and the decision was made on layout practicality and price. Hope that helps

1. It's not the just out model. But it is brand new

2. 1500 miles looks in good condition on a 55 plate.

Ace, Swift and Bessacarr are all basically the same. There are minor differences in standard equipment with Bessacarr being the highest and Ace the lowest. The biggest difference is really in the trim colours. Choose the one you like the look of best.

We purchased a new 495 in May 2005. So far we have travelled round France (13,000 odd miles) with 6 months in 05 and another 6 months in 06.
We were looking for something with plenty of space for the two of us plus the dog (janni) The 495 has been great for us, with plenty of space to read, compute, do puzzles and laze about.
It really is about choice.
Just back from Knowparke (habitation check) no problems and we are getting ready to leave at the start of April. Very pleased with our choice.
Good luck

I can only agree with Janni. We bought a 2006 E495 in October. Extremely pleased with it. Very comfy and roomy. Great lounge area at the back. Going in tomorrow for a few minor things to be corrected i.e. seals missing on front roof vent, fridge door requires adjusting and water pressure low from pump. Apart from these no problem great van.

Hi Gav

On the figures you mention, I would go for the new one.

Are both figures the "bottom line" from the dealer? Are both vans at the same dealer?
