Hi, just received a letter from Hymer u.k. regarding a recall on Aguti cab seats fitted with CARL STAHL seatbelts ( MCF ) seatbelts not affected.
They identified Swindon branch as our closest but as this is about a 400 ml. round trip from cornwall does anyone have any experience with Brownhill group regarding claiming fuel expenses etc.?
Van was bought new Jan. 07.

Alex.

Hi
Is the recall calling for the belts to be replaced? If so can Brownhills not send the new belts to a recognised belt fitter (or local Fiat dealer) for the recall to be carried out. The fitter then would need to send the originals back to Brownhills and it would save you an awful lot of time and save the need to go back to them.......
Just a thought...

Hi Kands re-read letter and it states to be replaced without delay.
Will give them a call and suggest your idea which makes good sense but I have to remember common sense does not usually rate very high with dealers.
Will keep site informed of any progress ( or not )

Thanks Alex.

I would have thought you had a good case for not driving up to Swindon in that case. If the seat belt are not safe then you should not be on the road.
An accident could happen and the belt fail within a mile of home. What would your insurance say if you knew the belts were unsafe when you set off ?

Had something sort-of similar with Swift, which recalled my van (and countless others) to upgrade the two seatbelts in the dinette. All credit to them they paid for fuel, overnight stay and lunch, while also providing a hire car while the work was being done.

Hope Hymer do at least the same for you!

Hi just called Hymer and asked about expenses ie fuel etc. the girl said to keep fuel receipts and Hymer would reimburse then asked about lunch etc. and she stated they would not pay for lunches but we could camp at the Swindon branch overnight. I then asked about the insurance angle and could they not allow me to get a qualified seatbelt fitter nearer to home she stated that it had to be done by a Hymer agent.
This will probably only be the start of several phone calls ( 0800 no.) as I seek for a little more compen. for inconvenience.
My wife says I am not normal as I ( her words ) love the agro. and bartering with companys.
