During a recent trip away, a crack developed around the plughole in the bathroom washbasin. Finding myself at the time near a Chausson dealer, decided to order a new washbasin. Very helpful friendly people, traced the part number on their computer and duly orderd it. Said it would be here in about 20 days. Settled back awaiting delivery, convinced that it would have to come from France. 20 days later exactly informed that it is on a DHL van on its way to me. Parcel arrives at myhome address, and lo and behold it has come from COMO here in Italy! Anyway fitted the new washbasin with a bit of contortionist DIY, quite pleased with myself because I'm not what you'd call a DIY'er.
Anyway, this got me thinking, and looking through all my documentation, notwithstanding Chausson is a Franch marque, a good deal of the equipment is Italian.
Of course most of us know that the base vehicles Fiat Ducato, Citroen, Peugeot, and Talbot, all come out of the Societa Europea Veicoli Leggeri (SEVEL) factory at Val di Sangro in Italy.
Al-Ko, although a German company, has a facility in Alto Adige which provides its brand of chassis to SEVEL.
My water pump is Fiamma - Italy. The awning is also Fiamma. The 3 burner hob is SMEV - Italy. All the bathroom fittings are Italian.
The furniture fittings are Tecnform Italy, and lord knows what else.
Interestingly the heating and hot water (TRUMA) is German in most motorhomes, and my aircon/inverter setup is Waeco - Germany.
Would be interested to know how much Italian made equipment in German built vans?
saluti,
eddied

Not at all, we supply the idiots who pay very large sums of money for all the bits that make a motorhome, without checking that they are all screwed together properly.
