Hi All quick question, I am only licenced to drive up to 3,500KG.

If we buy a van with 3,500kg on it, does that mean the van weighs 3,500kg or does it weigh less but can carry our kit up to a maximum of 3,500?

Thanks

3500Kg is the gross vehicle weight. That is the maximum the vehicle can weigh. The load you can carry varies a lot between diferent models. And dont forget the maximum weight includes you the pasengers and fuel ect.

Dont forge that each axel will have a maxmium weight as well. So you have to aware of this when loading you van, as if you put all the heavy stuff at one end you might be over weight on that axel but still within the 3500kgs.

Richard...

I think that your answer is not 100% clear. The 3,500kg is the total of everything (mtpm). i.e. what it would weigh on a weighbridge as you drive off and not just the vehicle.
