Don't know if it is any good yet but at a tenner its worth a go. Plugs into the cig lighter and keeps the van battery topped up if you stay parked up a few days...

...I hope - I'll let you know how I get on

. . . make sure your ciggie lighter socket is live with the ignition off otherwise no charge will get through to batteries [I think also that you need to ensure solar charger has one way diode otherwise it might drain battery]

Sounds ok but what effect does it have on your Engine battery? (see www.goextra.co.uk- the powerstarter 2)

Hi

Lots of reports and opinions on this solar charger from back in December 2006 when they were last on offer:

Rated at 15w = 0.125 A
On a good sunny day .. maybe 2AH

It should prevent the battery from discharging while standing and possibly provide enough juice for an alarm ..

I can definitely confirm it's no good as a fire guard Laughing

It should keep the engines battery topped up when we are parked up for a few days - the radio/cd/ipod player uses the vans own battery so could flatten it preventing a start. At a push I can always jump the leisure via leads to the engines battery but thought this might be easier Smile

In winter I'll use it to make sure it doesnt slowly flatten.

I swapped my chocolate fireguard for the ashtray on my motorbike Wink
