I've only just thought of this, and not thought twice yet, so it could be rubbish! .........what do you guys think?
I've just read ANOTHER report of ANOTHER unfriendly welcome at a Club site and it got me wondering.
We've all read loads of these negative reports, and to be fair, also some good ones, but do they ever get back to the owners/managers.
To be fair, you can't change what you don't know about and even if you did know, would one isolated incident (or so it would seem from THIER point of view) make any diference.
So I thought...........
Could we make up some sort of database where we could rate the welcome on sites. I know there is the camsite database and we can comment on each, but is there a way of separating the "welcome" information and collating it so that we can see if there's a pattern on particular sites and possibly act upon it by way of a cut and paste into an E-Mail to the headquarters of the Club/Site involved?
I've got to be honest and say that BOTH times I've felt it neccessary to report Caravan Club wardens to East Grinstead, I've had VERY favourable and understanding replies from them, indead, I was told in one case that the warden was actually removed from his post as they'd had a flood of complaints.
Just to put the other side of the coin, and hopefully allow you to realise that I'm not just a trouble causer, the Club was VERY appreciative when I took the trouble to HIGHLY praise the assistant Warden at Bury for his handling of a potential fight situation when a traveller kicked off at the entrance gate!
I realise this could be a pain to organise so it's just a thought.
Oh. and I'm sorry, but I'm HONESTLY far too busy to take this on myself, which is a shame cos I'm a BIG believer in good service........Sorry
Sounds interesting. I too have sent an email occassionally, both good and bad.
One immediate problem I can see with your idea is the accuracy of information. Last year we attended two meets at a site in Rutland. The first time the owner who was on that weekend was absolutely fantastic, the second his new manager was a right pain in the (whoops lol).
By emailing the organisation they can, as in your case take a view based on the number of emails where as a database here might unfairly put people off a site just down to an individual who happened to be working there in the past.
The siteowner here wound us up a bit. We were told it was £9 a night. When we arrived suddenly it was £40 for 4 nights, lots of other little, little things.
Anyway we have never been here before and I guess we suffered because he has had a bad day. The site is handy for us so if we stay away it will be us who is suffering. But you start thinking he has had me over for £4 etc etc.
