Loads of motorhomes and caravans on the road today as we returned from our break.
Whilst many were travelling at much the same speed as us, around 60, give or take, I was amazed at the number of vans tanking along at well over 70, and even 80.
Most of the really fast movers seemed to be overcabs so their fuel consumption must be horrific.
Each to his own but isn't this supposed to be a relaxing hobby?

Was this on the A34 ? I've never seen so many on the road today so they must have been coming from some event south of the M4 ( ie they were going north)
I have just returnd from a trip and I was trying to maintain a stedy 60 MPH on cruise. I was supprized at how many M/Hs passed us. It was'nt just newish ones either. Plenty of overcabs which must have been doing well over 70 mph. Definatly not dealers
I always try and get a good MPG out of our van so 60ish is our normal speed as if we travel at 70 I have found we only get 24mpg
Hello oldenstar,Don't get me started!!,Whilst US safe drivers are plodding along at 60/70 mph(within the law). These other drivers are sailing by at 80+ (guess who the accidents are usually caused by).I was on the M20

The silver bullet you might see is me but I'm very shapely so still get 35 to 36 mpg. Life is too short to spend all of it on motorways off them I'm often very sedate

Plusnet, Safari 5, G5 PowerPC iMac running OSX 10.5.8, Salisbury UK : Get behind early - it gives you more time to catch up.
Coming back from Cornwall today it wasn't the MH'rs that were speeding, it was caravans. As mentioned in another thread, one big twin-axle was towed by a small-ish car. I would say that he had used up all of his margin for error.

Possibly Steve but I've just remembered that half term ends today so these might have been families trekking home.
