Just had to renew my insurance, always had a very good deal with the Co-op, but just bought a brand new van and the policy has gone up by about 75 pounds.
Comfort quoted me 316.78, which up against the Co-op was saving 70.00. Looking on the site I found that there was a 5% discount for members.
I've just rang Comfort and quoted my membership number, ---
they ACTUALLY KNEW about MHF's discount
and now the premium is down to 302.50.
Thats giving me 365 days of fully comp. European cover, and full European breakdown cover as well. There is no discount on the breakdown cover however, only the Standard Policy Cover, down by a massive 14.28, from 261.78 to 247.50 not bad eh? plus the breakdown of 55.00, total 302.50 certainly saved the tenner membership!!!
Went with comfort today for a couple of reasons, first the lowest quote for same offerings as others (always a good starter), second the web enquiry was instant allowing me to carry on to get other quotes but alas i had to wait for others to respond either by email or phone, not impressed with that as i like to work something's out without the sales pitch and the feeling of pressure to buy, so comfort for me, thanks to motorhomefacts for the discount too
I have just renewed my insurance with Comfort. I have been insured through them since we purchased our first motorhome 4 years ago. Their quotes are quite competetive and we have always received good service from them and so we were happy to renew our policy. I asked about whether I was entitled to a discount as I am a member of MHF. The young lady went off to ask for me and returned a minute or so later stating that the discount offered is to NEW BUSINESS ONLY, it is a ONE OFF DISCOUNT and does not carry on throughout the life of the policy, so no discount for me.
Perhaps Moderators get a special deal Gillian. Lucky you.
When I enquired about the discount on my renewal this year, I didn't get it - new business only I was told. Still good value though at £298, new for old, UK&Continental breakdown included
Perhaps Moderators get a special deal Gillian. Lucky you.

I could only quote the situation at the time and I did get the discount on renewal. (Please don't tell )
I can only think that the discount hadn't been used for a little time and I was lucky. The moderator tag was never mentioned and neither should it be, all she wanted was my subscriber number..
On a topic with a similar theme I did accept that it is for new business only.
I wonder what the effect would be if you said that without the discount on renewal they were dearer than a competitor. It must be worth a try even if you don't succeed.
