Williamson, 25, soon grew tired of what he calls the "sterility" of digital. In the age of the booming digital camera industry, with its spiralling megapixel counts and camera menus that would flummox a fighter pilot, converts to the cult of Holga celebrate the camera as an antidote to high technology. "Everything seemed so pristine in my photos," Williamson says. "They were almost optically perfect."
I love digital photography. Although I miss the 'touchy feel' of a real piccy in my hands as I very rarely print them off. I bought a very good printer that does good photo printing but I am now seriosly considering using an online photo printer to process my digi snaps into real hard copies.
I need to investigate this as an option. I have just got a new digital camera and want to do more than just snap away and store on my hdd.
And it's greener. Developing films (especially those including a proportion of shots which you wish you'd taken better, or had never taken at all), is an environmentally-far-from-friendly process.
What an odd article. This holga thing is all a bit odd. Buy a basic camera that produces rubbish and then to quote the article "hacking" Holgas, or modifying them by taking them apart and adding bits to improve them.
to improve then being the operative bit, why just not buy the better camera in the first place.
Some years ago, thought I was being clever. Bought a Canon body ( film ). Went on ebay for some weeks and assemble several lenses, filters, posh flash and all the rest of the gubbins, even managed to get stacks of out-of-date films free to store in fridge. Started to teach myself how to work it all and felt quite chuffed with myself getting a good kit on the cheap.
Then digital came along....
