Having upgraded my Brownie a few years ago to a........get this.....DIGITAL camera........high tech or what?

I am now looking to go one step further. the camera I have is a HP......Please keep the laughter to a minimum! Rolling Eyes and to be honest it's been fine......just a couple of minor "don't likes"
It uses rechargable AA batteries, a real pain.....so am looking for a camera with a proper rechargable battery, and with spares available at reasonable prices.

When the battery starts to run down (about 10 mins after putting them in)
the screen view switches off and you have to use the viewfinder...........that's OK, but a lot of these new cameras dont have viewfinders.

I've been to Jessops........and had alook and so far in my price bracket
(about £200 including card and spare battery) I am thinking about LUMIX....

Any thoughts or advice as I really want to win the photo competition. Rolling Eyes

Hi Badger

My wife's Ricoh Caplio R6 is a cracking little camera, and Ricoh are brilliant if anything goes wrong. See >>here<<

The model is up to the R8 now, which is a bit above what you want to pay, but the R7 is well inside, and was only superceded about a month ago.

PM me if you would like more detail

Cheers

Hi Badger
Last year I bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ3 from PurelyGadgets.co.uk as it was the best price at the time. They have some really good cameras on their website. Was toying with buying the olympus one that is waterproof and shockproof and everything else proof but was swayed by the Lumix as It takes widescreen pictures and has 10 times optical zoom. Fantastic Camera I wouldn't want to be without it.

Might be worth you having a look at Canon A700 (I think is the model number). Does have a viewfinder and although it uses AA rechargeables they do last a reasonable length of time. Takes a standard SD card. 7 times optical zoom. Only time I find it falls a bit short is it struggles to focus properly in low light levels but it is by no means alone in that respect.

Having already dipped my toe into the world of digital photography, I'm now up to my ankles........I went for the basic Lumix, very impressed so far but then it dosn't take a lot to impress me!! Wink

So far very happy with the choice....simple enough even for me, yet good piccies so far............I'll keep on pointing and shooting!!
