Just in case others aren't aware, my camcorder developed a fault some 3years after purchase, it would no longer record, the screen went blank, but it would still playback old tapes.
I discovered through an internet search that the ccd unit had gone, this is apparently a common fault in these cameras, and Canon are repairing them FREE OF CHARGE. I rang a very helpful firm dealing with the repairs, sent mine off today, and await the outcome!
Hope this helps someone else...I was about to give up on mine as I thought my nephew had broken it.

Hi... I also have a Canon MV630i and the same happened to me just over 18 months ago... I contacted a guy I know at my local Canon Authorised Repair Centre and he told me to bring it in as the problem was a faulty batch of CCD's and Canon had instructed them to replace the part FREE of charge regardless of the age of the Camera.

Mine has worked fine ever since.
