Has anyone experienced this? My Camos dome does struggle with trees around the van. However, I can move it a few yards and it will then lock on to one or more satellites. But. yesterday, its behaviour was most odd; I arrived at the site and we were suitably out in the open when I powered up. The dome made no attempt to whirr around, trying to lock on. I tried this for an hour and there wasn't a peep out of the thing. Naturally, I looked at the wiring, but that hadn't been touched since the last time I used it.
This morning, I tried the Camos again and it behaved exactly as it should. As soon as I opted for a particular satellite on the control box, the whirring on the roof began and it soon locked on.
Any ideas as to why there was absolutely nothing the night before?
Dave, it did as it always does. I switched on the 12v. The controller lit up. I opted for a satellite and that particular light on the box flashed briefly, then it held steady.
Normally, at this point, the whirring on the roof tells me it's trying to lock on to that particular satellite. But, this time no whirr at all. I pulled all the cabling out and checked all connections. I also stood on a chair and tapped the big tit on the roof a couple of times. Nothing.
This was not a lack of signal, because that causes the dome to get frustrated and all I hear is endless groaning on the roof. This time, the dome didn't want to play at all.
Next morning it woke up as if nothing had happened and gave me what I wanted... brief moan as it focussed, then up came the 'lock' and all was well.

I have had this once or twice
I turn the Camos box off and restart by resetting the Sat.....this works for me.
I tried turning the fat controller on and off a few times, but that did nowt. I also pulled plugs out of its back and put them back in.
Andy might like to comment, but as my kit is working again, there's nothing much to report. I suppose I'm looking for a reason for it happening and how to immediately correct it should it go in a sulk again. God forbid - I might have missed something important, like the Eurovision Song Contest.
Have you checked that the data cable(s) are properly seated into the connector, not just the connector onto the posts?
The Data cables are just screwed into the connectors and they do come loose this shortens the central wire so that it can make an intermittant contact to the post.
Thanks, John. No, I wasn't that specific; I just looked at all the cabling and saw nothing amiss. It all sprung back to life the next morning for no apparent reason at all. It remains a mystery.

For sophisticated equipment, I was surprised at how crude the data cables between the aerial and the control box, and the control box and the tuner, are - the old soldered coax seem brilliant in comparison. I found out the hard way that it is easy to pull out the cable while still leaving the connector well and truly anchored. There seems to be no way of making a permanent bond other than hope!
