Hi my friend Sonesta has asked me to post, they have reached Salamanca and are staying a couple of nights on the Hotel Regio camp site
http://www.travel-library.com/campgrounds/europe/spain/salamanca/camping_regio.html she has asked if anyone knows of a way of getting ITV on the satellite dish in that area (she has the oyster and sky) whilst she can get sky etc she can't get ITV.

I know when we were there we had the same problem ! can anyone help at all ?

They have had an eventful journey as they lost a few days travel due to the tyre on the smart car coming off and I think damage to the wheel, which held the journey up for several days, and also cost quite a lot of money.

Here at home her Son in Law and Daughter are staying in her house and have broken her spice rack glass bottles LOL but shhhh she might not notice when she arrives back.

If anyone does know ref ITV I can text her and make her happy as she won't have to miss Corra LOL

Hi

Salamanca is located in Western Spain and as such I think possibly out of the footprint for the Astra2D satellite that broadcasts BBC and ITV.

If Sue can get other channel such as 4, 5 and SKY news etc, then this seems to be the case. In this situation, this dish will be locked on, but when Sue tries to watch BBC or ITV, the screen will say "no satellite signal is being received". Salamanca is out of the Astra2D range according to various footprint maps, but so is Lake Garda in Italy, and it is possible to get BBC and ITV there.

However, it may be possible to tweek the dish's LNB slightly by climing on the roof, or reaching through a Heki to adjust this.

Another thing I tried when overseas was to ditch ITV Yorkshire and instead find ITV London - channel nine hundred and something and this worked even when the ITV Yorkshire signal broke up.

Have a read of the link below - notably "getting TV in southern Europe"

Probably Dish size .for that area 80c at min rising to 1.1-1.3 mtr for southern coast of Spain ,Malaga area. I fit 1.3MTR dishes and get all fta's and all sky channels.

I tried with the Maxview in February at the same site but no success. She'll just have to miss Coronation Street. Remind her that if she goes into reception (a) it's warm and (b) they have free wifi. But I guess she's found that out for herself or maybe not, otherwise she'd be posting on here directly.

Thanks for the replies I have passed on the some of the info earlier, I guess Sue hasn't realised that there is free internet as she would def have been on by now, its a bit too late for me to text her now taking into account the one hour in front of us.

I think she will def have tried tweeking the LNB as this is what she told me to do when we were travelling last Feb.

Good tip ref the ITV London and Yorkshire Russ and one I am keeping in mind for us.

hi all, i am in marbella at the mo and get bb1,2 itv ch4,5 all on 80 cm oyster. bear in mind tho that the oyster itself is not accurate enough to get these channels and has to be manually fine tuned after its locked on. you also have to have a quality lnb. i havent had problems here on the costa del sol or on the algarve in portugal but bad weather wil knock out the channels sometimes as it really is on the limit down here. as regards salamanca i dont know but i would try to manually tweak the dish a little you might be surprised at the difference it can make. itv meridian or central south are the strongest signals so try these. for bbc try channel 973 or 974 on sky. all the best sean
