I was speaking to someone this morning who told me their local Satellite shop were selling the DM500s Dream Box for £69. Will this box work with a Sky Card?

It can be made to work with one and requires a bit of technical knowledge to do so by "flashing" new software. I nearly fried ours on first attempt, so best to engage somebody to do it for you who is used to the process.

Should work fine with a Sky card.

Can you let me know where the shop is as I will have 2 of them at that price and I am sure there will be a big queue wanting them.

I was going to buy a Dreambox, until I was put onto >>Technomate<<. Their products seem to be the "dog's do dahs".
Mine has a card slot which, with the correct software, can be programmed to use a sky card. As channel 4 & 5 are now Freesat, I don't bother with our £20 Sky card any more.

HTH,

Jock.

Bang 'fake dm500' into google... you'll see they stopped making genuine dm500 a long time ago and any now being sold are cheap inferior fakes. Like most fakes, they are built with cheaper inferior components. Average life span I read to be just a few months, buy at your own risk.

Dm500s was replaced by dm500+, but they have discontinued them now too. Latest model is the dm600s.

Did you ever get your technomate to work with cards?

Rislar
Mr M is onto a good thing with his heavily protected interface. I too prefer the Sly interface, but dreambox fills a gap enabling me to watch my tv programs whilst away. It sure beats taking the bulky digibox away with me just so I get the interface.

At least you have a good satellite dish.... Wink

Hi Shane,

There was no need to as I only had the £20 encryption card, and as I said earlier, Channels 4 & 5 are Freesat now. I have never been a fan of the Rupert Murdoch regime.

Had I known then what I know now, I would have gone for the TM5200D rather than the TM5300D + Super USB. However, saying that, I now have the ability to record when out of the MH, without the need to install a DVD recorder. Very handy.

I am sure that with the right CAM or downloads, existing subscription cards could be used.

Regards,

Jock.
