Hi Dennis

Artona will know. Very Happy Very Happy

He's a pro photographer with 30 odd years experience.

He will pick this up I expect, but if nobody else can help give him a PM.

Hi Dennis

Did the camera that you took the photos with come with a disc?

If the camera can shoot "RAW" it normally comes with windows and apple software

Since it sounds like you're a bit suprised that they are Raw files do I guess correctly that you didn't intend to take Raw files?

Image recovery programs can have a tendency to rename the recovered Jpegs with a prefix of RAWxxxx.jpg This doesn't mean they are RAW files so you could try viewing them with your usual program. I think Rescuepro does this.

A good freebie is Irfanview which handles many different formats is http://www.irfanview.de/ although I think its PC only.

If you are serious about RAW files then I can recommend Adobe Lightroom or at the lower end of the scale - Photoshop Elements. Both are available for Mac and PC.

Your apple iPhoto which came with your computer will take care of the sorting and viewing aspects with some limited editing/adjusting it can handle RAW.

Aperture is good and integrates seamlessly with iPhoto whereas Photoshop is a bit more fiddly I have some iCreate magazines with write ups/masterclasses about Aperture which I can send you if you pm me with your address.

First I would get to grips with iPhoto and see what it doesn't offer that you must have. Many people who have only tried third party software on PCs are pleasantly surprised by how painless Apple embedded software is.

If you rename them all to JPG you will find they are simply small photo thumbnails.

As Dave, says these are just small thumbnail versions of the original image. The RAW prefix has probably been added by the recovery program.

You have something but nowhere as good as the original.
