Hi We have an Oyster self seeking system on our MH and cannot make our minds up what to do when we trade in.
We are due to change MH in March and the dealer says to remove the system because it does not affect the trade in price. The system was on the MH when we bought it last year and is working fine but I prefer the Camos low profile dome - my husband just wants a satellite system.
So my question is. is there a market for a second hand Oyster system and if there is what price should I ask for it?
I have looked on Ebay, magazines and on classified adds and haven't seen any second hand.
I want to decide what to do before the system is removed so if we decide to sell it potential buyers can see it working.

Keep your Oyster and get the dealer to remove and re-instal, free of charge of course, on you new vehicle.Thats my usual method.

If you do remove and decide you do not want that model ,then i would be interested in purchasing.

I can guarantee it'll go like a rocket if you list it on Ebay.

Try it in classified ads here before you trade the van in, almost guaranteed to find several potential buyers if your price is reasonable.

Keep it. Why sell it cheap and then buy a new one for £2000. It does'nt make sense.

I agree just take the Oyster and move to your new vehicle. Alot cheaper and still have the quality of the system. You may need a new base plate but the dealer should be able to get one direct from Oyster sat tech Ltd, the UK branch of Ten Haaft, the manufacturer. Hope this is useful Smile

Hi Thanks for your replies everyone.
It looks like we will be keeping the Oyster system and having it refitted if there is room on the roof.
We are not sure how much space there will be available as solar panels will be fitted by Autosleepers plus the large rooflight so will have to wait and see.

Naaaaah There is no market for second hand Oysters!

I'll give you a tenner for it though to "take it off your hands" Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Seriously, it will sell fine for at least half the current RRP and perhaps a little more. I would check with Autosleepers to see it it will fit along with the solar panels: To be honest I would guess not! The required space needed is on the website so I am sure Autosleeper will be able to tell you for definite

If it doesn't the £700 -£800 should go a long way towards the £1299 for the dome

If no one knows the size needed get them to give me a call and we will tell them

Regards Eddie

OK Go on I'll make it £15 cash!

Hi
Thank you Eddie (Vanbitz) for your reply and estimate of value.
My husband has agreed that I can advertise the system for offers over £800 so I will be doing that on this website, within the next few days.
As you say this will go some way to the fitting of a dome system which will take up less room on the roof.
