Hi^Pete
I would say there is no problem here. Preferably use the proper dish not the sky mesh and if its pointing to the Sat at 28deg with a twin LNB you will feed two receivers then just switch to what you want. However if using the PVR version of the freesat box it will be a different story I think. Maybe you would need a quad LNB with 2 feeds to the freesat box and onother to the alternative box. Or try looping thro IE put a loop on the inputs on the freesat box which Gerry says is in the instructions and try that . It will have limited funtionallity but may be fine for you.
We run Sky + in the main lounge and Sky in the back lounge. I have just fitted Free Sat in the Lads bedroom. I have a Sky mini dish and a quad LNB. It all works perfect.
Definitely, change your LNB to either quad or eight way for future expansion. Freesat box will work on any dish that is pointing at the Sky satellite.
If you are considering HD then I would suggest the Humax as it is much easier to drive than the Alba (Bush, Goodmans, Grundig, Wharfedale) boxes.
For PVR than there is only one choice, that is the Humax, but for a PVR you will need two cables direct to is for full function.

If you are going to change your LNB, I am with Gerry on this, minimum you should fit is a quad. Just buy a couple of F-Plugs and fill the ends up with silicon sealant to use to blank off the outputs you don't want to use immediately. Sooner or later you will want them for additional TVs.
