Still sat here in front of the computer - it may be in the office, or on the laptop if I manage to get away from the office.

As far as I know, the only motorhoming Oxford United supporter in Bognor.

Slingbox is a piece of kit which can transmit what you're watching at home on your satelite across the internet to wherever you want to recieve it. You have a piece of software which you install on your laptop (or 3g phone) which allows you to watch what your slingbox is transmitting.

Slingbox also has a built in freeview tuner. You can even configure the slingbox to allow you to switch channel from your remote session. A bit annoying for your family if they're sat at home watching Sky.

As long as the internet access you have when you're in europe is quick enough it should work fine.

You can see more details at http://uk.slingmedia.com/

I've been using one for about a year but not tried it from Europe. If you're in Europe now I'm quite happy to let you have access to my slingbox to test it out.

Cheers
Alan

Hello Alan,
I'm in France but on a regular broadband connection. I guess if the box is transmitting to the net i.e. www.alansbox.com anyone can pick it up?

I like the idea of keep changing the channel from afar. Laughing

Do you know if the 24 hour Le-Mans is on UK TV?

Ray.

Similar.
It will work fine depending on how good the LOCAL connection is. The main internet backbone seems to cope.

We use "WinGuide" on home PC (Media Centre) and can stream from there to laptop or mobile in the same way as slingbox (but free Wink) - and it all depends on the local connection only - test with speedtest.net and as long as its good - its great
