I have had a normal sky full package system at home since the Year dot. Time to upgrade to sky plus says all my family. Not interested yet in HD set up. I have a new Oyster vision 85 single LNB on motorhome. Used sky box in motorhome and superb all last summer in France Italy etc. What will happen (understand about 12 month connection rule) if i take the proposed sky plus box in motorhome. With a single LNB will I be able to record and then playback, or pause and continue on one channel or indeed a combination of all
I haven't worked out how it operates it, any advise will help. Thanks
Your Sky+ functionality will work, but you have to have satellite access to watch pre-recorded material. You cannot watch one channel while recording another, record two while playback one. etc. When recording you need to leave it on that channel. When you seek a satellite and you have a recording timed to be in progress, you sometimes have to fiddle.
I already have SKY+ at home but only got standard SKY in the MH.
When I tried the SKY+ box on the single LNB dish I found that the receiver would sometimes indicate "No Satellite Signal Being Received" message, as the receiver was locked on to a different channel than the one I wanted to watch using the single LNB but was trying to lock on to the channel I wanted to watch with the 2nd LNB which wasn't there.
I gave up trying to figure out how to tell it otherwise, other than turning the system off and then on again. In the end I gave up and returned to my old SKY box.
I'm sure that if you fit a double LNB with another feed to the SKY+ box it will work fine. (double LNBs are available in Maplin)
Hope this has not confused you even more.
Agree. Not in a motorhome, but I've run a Sky+ box off a single LNB - can be a bit of a nightmare. Gave up in the end & got extra LNBs fitted to my dish.
From what I can see, the issue is with horizontal / vertical polarisation. Some channels work on H, others V. Because the Sky+ box expects independent inputs, at times it seems to flick between its inputs based on the polarisation. So if LNB1 input was last on a H channel & you change channels to a V channel, it'll try to take an input from LNB2 input, fail, hence "no satellite signal is being received". I may be misinterpreting though.
I have run a second hand Pace Sky+ box for the best part of 2years in the house using a single feed (I don't subscribe to sky) and I have not had a single problem in all that time. It is currently connected to this PC via an RGB feed and the second RF output goes to an old CRT TV in another room where I can feed childrens TV to the grandchildren to keep them quiet!
Frequently half watch TV in a window on the PC whilst browsing the internet

Hi, we have Sky plus in our motorhome & are able to record 2 channels at the same time, playback, live pause etc. However, we have the Oyster Twin LNB fitted so that is why we can use all the Sky Plus features. Another thing we can enjoy due to having the twin LNB is watch through the multi satellite receiver a different channel to the 2 being recorded! We originally had the single LNB set up but we did a deal with Transleisure to upgrade to the twin LNB version.
I know having such technology in their motorhomes is not for everyone but we love having such home comforts installed & for anyone thinking of going down this route I can honestly recommend the Oyster Twin.

It could be, but they are all supposed to meet the same specification. Have you tried the other input No 2 instead of No 1. I have have a feeling mine didn't work on one of the inputs and think it was No 1. Cann't get at the back very easily or I would let you know for certain.

Hi All
I think this explains some problems ive had. We have a dish on a tripod with a single LNB. When we used our normal sky box we had no problems set up and working in a mo.
Since using sky + its a nightmare sat finder always beeping the signal strength up but " no satellite signal being recieved" message on tv, ive given up many times.
We are looking into getting a Camos crank up roof mounted square dish with a single LNB and didnt want to buy it to find I can not tune it in, so today ive got our old single input sky box out, pluged it into our tv, put our viewing card in and hey ho we can get all channels except movies it says the card is in the incorrect box.
So im going to try this on our next trip on the tripod, if it works we will get the camos.
Thanks
Chris
