Are they photos, slides or negatives?

Do you have a scanner? They're quite cheap, and you can do as many as you want for free. You might need to play around with scan resolution to get the best quality / file size compromise.

When I first got a computer in 2000 I scanned old photos.

I then saved the photo to PC

Then I converted the photo from Bitmap to JPEG

Once in JPEG it ok to send via email. Bitmap is too large a file to send via email.

If you don't have a scanner but do have a reasonable Digital camera, before spending any money try taking a photo of the photo, beware of flash glare, do it in a well lit room use a tripod or something to stop shake.

Yes it a bit heath robinson, but it does work, just takes patience.

It's worth a try innit, I've use it a few times.

I have an Epson perfection V100 photo. This scanner is especially designed to handle photo scanning and comes with an attachment to hold 35mm slides. It comes recommended by many computer mags.
Then, as has already been said, just save the files as a JPEG image and attach to your Emails

Thanks to all for your help.

Gerald

They are Photos. No scanner. Son-in-law has and will send them by email.
Has tried to send them but I cannot open them.
Might just buy one. Would you recommend one. Just scanner.

zulurita

S-I-L said he couldn't send them as jpeg.

Kev_Behr
I think I will have two many to do it that way.

bigbazza

I've been doing a fare bit of this scanning photo's lark just lately, saving them to my pc and finaly burning them to disk. If it's any use to you, I use an Epson perfection v350 scanner and to my eye's it does the job very well.It also does slides and negs.

Hi N&N

I've personally had good results from an HP Scanner, although I would think anything from HP, Epson or Canon would do a good job for you.
