We are off f/t'ing very soon and are now down to the nitty gritty.

We plan to mount a tripod on the dash of our Hymer and record some of those "interesting" drives through mountain passes, across deserts and to record those simply unbelievable views.

I have seen videos from others, but what tripod have they used and how was it fixed?

I have a camera mount with a ball joint for adjustment,on a suction cup similar to those used for sat navs. I bought it from either Aldi or Lidl.

It looks from your avatar that you have an A-class. Depending on the size of camera you plan to use, you might be better off with a bean bag sat on the dash. This will prevent shake and wobble. Beanbags are often used by nature photographers to support SLRs with long lenses when they are unable to use a big tripod.

Hi Andrewshirley, I have tried the suction mount on the windscreen but the vibration caused spoilt the recording so went for a bean bag below and one on top of the camera. Still had a somewhat jumpy recording but that was in Scotland and probably due to the poor road surface more than anything else.

i think that there was a post a couple of week ago that told about a camera for recording your journey, it recorded on an sd card, think it came from maplins perhaps that might be a better option.
